"We Are All Downstream: Water Rights, Indigenous Rights, Divestment," has been organized and is hosted by the Winona-Dakota Unity Alliance and Turtle Island Student Organization. It will be held Saturday, October 28, beginning at 9:00 a.m., at the Harriet Johnson Auditorium in Somsen Hall on the Winona State University campus in Winona. The event is free and open to the public and a lunch will be provided. For more information and to RSVP, see the Facebook event page here.
The Green Party of Winona County is honored to be a co-sponsor of this event. The Green Party is committed to environmental justice and we stand in solidarity with the indigenous people who have valued and protected the land for generations, and continue to do so today. Their actions in defense of nature are an inspiration and beacon to all nations that we must learn to live in harmony with our planet in order to save each other.
We fully support indigenous actions that stress sovereignty while also protecting our shared environment. The destructive environmental and economic actions of corporate-influenced government have affected the indigenous nations of this land acutely and we recognize the important leadership of indigenous voices in opposing these abusive practices.
Please consider attending this important community event!
